If this bar never moves while the tab is playing sound, tab audio was not shared. Stop, start again, and tick the audio box in the picker.

Capture settings
Only the options your browser reports as supported are listed. MP4 needs Chromium 130 or newer.
5 Mbit/s is about 37 MB a minute. Check you have the disk space for the length you plan.

On: you pick the file first and each chunk is written straight away, so memory stays flat and a crash still leaves a playable file. Off: the whole recording is held in memory and downloaded at the end.

What this browser can do
How to get tab audio
  1. Press Choose tab and record. If writing to disk is on, your browser asks where to save first — pick the folder and confirm.
  2. In the sharing dialogue open the Chrome tab list (not Window, not Entire screen). Window and screen sharing cannot carry tab audio.
  3. Tick Also share tab audio in the bottom-left corner of the dialogue, then press Share.
  4. Play something in the shared tab and watch the audio bar above. Movement means sound is reaching the file.
  5. Press Stop and finish here, or the browser's own Stop sharing bar. The file is closed and ready to play.
