Each PDF page becomes one image on one EPUB page, centred and scaled to whatever screen it opens on.
This page needs its PDF engine to read a PDF, and it did not load. It is served from this same site at /res/pdfjs/, so a reload usually fixes it.
Fixed layout keeps every image on its own screen and fits it to the display. Turn it off only if your reader refuses fixed-layout books.

Reader tips
Settings that tend to work, and the limits worth knowing before a long book.
- 6 to 7-inch e-ink, around 1264×1680: choose 1448 px.
- 10-inch e-ink, around 1404×1872: choose 1872 px.
- Colour tablet, or you zoom into small print: choose 2400 px.
- Going above your screen only helps when you pinch-zoom. It costs file size and page-turn speed.
- Greyscale roughly halves the file on a device that cannot show colour anyway.
- Trimming margins makes the text noticeably larger on a small screen, because the fitted image no longer includes white borders.
- PNG holds crisp black text and line art without JPEG haze, at maybe three times the size.
- Quality below 70% shows ringing around text. 80 to 90% is the usual sweet spot for scans.
- Pages become pictures, so text cannot be searched, selected or reflowed, and font size does nothing. That is the trade for exact layout.
- Everything is held in this tab while it works. A few hundred pages at 2400 px can exhaust a phone; convert in ranges if it stalls.
- Password-protected PDFs are refused. Remove the password first.
- The first page becomes the cover. Title and author are written into the book, so the reader lists it properly.
An EPUB 3 file with a pre-paginated layout, an EPUB 2 table of contents for older readers, and one image per page fitted with SVG so it centres on any screen shape.
